Making a Memory

I confess, I have a hard time thinking of fun and new things to do with Tay and Jo when we are trapped in the house because of snow or sickness.
Today my idea is to build a fort in the living room and eat popcorn for dinner in the fort. I think it will be a hit. Yesterday the four of us played Candy Land, one of my childhood favorites. I was excited to see that Taylor could catch on to the game already. We even finished the game.
I can't wait till Taylor thinks its fun to play dress up, and I dream about having tea parties with Jocey, but I don't want to just think, "I can't wait till they are older so we can _____" I want to enjoy every day now. We aren't watching tv for the next month so we are going to need lots of ideas especially if it keeps snowing!
So friends, please give me your experiences, memories, and ideas. Thanks

Really messy crafts are always fun. Part of me hesitates because the actualy time Annalee plays with the stuff is relativley short, but by the time you have gotten the idea and supplies together, played, cleaned up and taken a bath, it has been an hour or two!

I always loved forts growing up! Have you ever made homemade playdough?

Tay will love forts. Grab dining room tables, blankets and there you have it. My kids have been doing it since they were 2. Also, try setting up a 2 person dome tent in the living room and do an indoor camp night, flashlights and s'mores mandatory. You have a real fire place, so that room is perfect for camp night.

As for t.v., I basically only watch sporting events on weekend nights and news during the week. No weeknight prime time shows for me anymore. Haven't missed it one bit.

I took your idea and built a fort for the girls yesterday. But, we definatley made it a TV day. In fact, I never tun on the TV, and I think they watched it all day yesterday. It was really icey and yucky cold outside. So, they snuggled and ate crackers and juice in that thing until the sun went down. It was super fun!

I am so excited you are giving up tv for a month(you'll have to blog about that). If you think about it, so many other things deserve your time and you will feel so satisfied that you gave it to them. I can't wait till Asher is able to enjoy little activities. I will have to do a little research and get back to you with some fun ideas! :)

Matt set up our real tent in the living room once and she thought it was the best thing ever. Don't ever underestimate the power of jumping on the bed :)
